HexArcade
A research study exploring gameful applications to predict Hexad user types, reducing the need for traditional questionnaires while enhancing user enjoyment and immersion.
HexArcade
HexArcade is a research project that investigates whether gameful applications can be used to predict Hexad user types. By replacing the conventional, 24-item Hexad questionnaire with engaging game-based assessments, the project aims to tailor gamified systems more naturally.
The study introduces two gameful applications – Cloud Clicker and Snowball Shooter – that assess users’ Hexad types through binary choices and interaction behaviors. Cloud Clicker transforms questionnaire items into paired comparisons, while Snowball Shooter captures user engagement with gamification elements like leaderboards and virtual characters.
Results from the study demonstrate that the game-based assessments are strongly correlated with the traditional Hexad questionnaire scores, and both applications deliver a more enjoyable and immersive user experience.
"HexArcade redefines personalization in gamified systems by seamlessly integrating gameful assessments with validated user type models."
